Do you feel confused and scared to speak up at work?
Exhausted by the current administration and staying active and engaged outside of work?
Welcome to my 1st Salon of the year, Navigating Work during Social Unrest, with Boundaries Guide and Consultant, D’arby Rose.
Join this virtual Salon where we’ll review tactics and tips for how to speak up at work and then discuss as a group how we’re each navigating and surviving work during the current social unrest and political turbulence.
Speaking up doesn’t alway equate to being loud – it means speaking up with your own authentic voice, knowing your own boundaries, and feeling confident in what you’re saying.
Working in both freelance and full-time employed workspaces for the past fifteen years, I always struggled with staying quiet during moments and acts of injustice and feeling confident and clear in what I was allowed to speak up about – so I started researching how to speak up but within my rights as an employed and self-employed person (in CA.)
From 2018-2020 I ran the collective, Color Film, and used that space to provide tools and skills to advocate as a filmmaker and freelancer, and since then I’ve transitioned into expanding this work for everyone surviving capitalism seeking tools and community to set boundaries and advocate for ourselves and each other.
In this salon I’ll share a doc with my own tips and researched laws (disclaimer: that could potentially change under the new f@sci$t administration) and open up the discussion to all to share your own tips, successes, and challenges in speaking up at work against oppression and injustice.
Community and conversations are more important than ever. Let’s get together and create a safe space to talk about how we’re navigating the workplace and find comradery because I promise you none of us are alone in this.
This space is for:
- Corporate Employees + Girlies
- Freelancers
- Creatives + Artists
- Anyone at any stage of their career
- Disruptors + Anti-Capitalists surviving capitalism
- Underrepresented + Marginalized folks
- Anyone feeling exhausted by the exploitive structure that capitalism is and works hard to be
